Yes We Do Requests

Sure thing. Here at the Compound we're pretty much always ready to fire up the juke box and play requests. This one's from Wild, and what a one it is.

Good call. And Wild, I see your BST with BOC. Turn it up:

Oh yes indeed.

So don't be shy, send in your tunes,

Another Year Around The Sun

Here it is, another year 'round the sun and I've cheated the prophets so far, "Try and make it to 40, fella," said a friend in a Bayswater pub in the '90s, over cold-as-you-like lager. Lo and behold, against the odds, Force LSP fought through that objective and set up Ops in the New Country. And I can't complain, Texas, especially, has been good. All hail country life, to say nothing of God and Guns.

To mark this achievement, the Specialist came home with totally unaffordable steaks. We'll grill those in a bit and celebrate, asparagus wrapped in bacon and baby potatoes alongside. So there it is. But speaking of celebration, I've got a good mind to take a train journey.

You know, for several days, with a Pullman, Diner and all the rest. Traverse this land by rail, as a kind of recce perhaps. But witch way? Maybe the Dallas-Chicago-Detroit run or go West, up to Montana and then Alberta? Then again, perhaps something more... specialized?

All advice welcome and in the meanwhile, one song to rule them all.

Long Way Up Short Way Down

A foreign Captain's been roving around the Specialist's area, provoking a snappy salute and, "Sir, I'm sorry, I thought you were a Three Star!" let the reader understand, whilst beholding the brazen impudence of youth. "Far too young, mate,"  came the commissioned reply. Well said that Captain.

As I pondered this curious tale of military life in the candlelit glow of the DLC Mess and a delicious late night curry, it seemed right to up the ante, "Tell you what, fella, next time you see your new friend offer a different kind of salute. Long way up, short way down, you know the form," which he does, from Canada, "Make the Captain feel at home, what?"

The Specialist seemed impressed by this line of reasoning and fell upon his curry like an ME 262 on a bomber formation. Boom.

In related news, what's with the war drums beating on Ukraine and Russia? Serious question, what's it all about and we know it's been about for quite some time, starting, perhaps, with the risible PR stunt lie that Trump's a Russian spy.

There's just something about Ukraine and Russia which makes our overlords get all warlike. What, we have to ask, are they afraid of and what opportunity do they sense. Or are they simply driven by demonically insane greed and hubris? Like beasts. You'll note a senior German naval officer's resigned over it all.

But as always, you, the reader, be the judge.

Best Music Review - Ever

Mia and Juliet knocked it out of the park and made the best music review ever, of Blue Oyster Cult's classic if haunting hit, Don't Fear The Reaper. They love this song, rightfully. Here, check it out:

A few takeaways: "Soothing... the music was astounding... the guitar? Beautiful... the tempo changed... wolf in sheep's clothing... once the wolf gets among the sheeps... shows his true colors... I love it... a siren... versatile... ohhhh!... it sounded so beautiful! I loved it so much, it made my night... the music was astounding... perfect."

Yes, perfect. Mia and Juliet, you are always welcome here at the Compound and the DLC Mess, unlike the repellent Sting or Madonna, but in the meanwhile, thanks PA for the tip and as always...

Jukebox Monday

It's been a hard day at the Compound, sweating over a hot monitor as the Peoples' Crypto surges to retest all time highs. So it's time to relax, unwind and enjoy the jukebox. First up, Godzilla. Good call, Infidel.

And what's wrong with Dang Me? Nothing at all. Great choice, Bob.

Jim chooses the Bushwackers and gets it.

Here at the Compound we go for Great Train Robbery, because it's awesome.

And this one's for LL.

Cheers,

RHT sent this in too, and here at the Compound we like it a lot:

And let's not forget Mr. Sinatra:

And that's just a few. Send in your fave tunes and off we'll go, to the Moon.

A Message From Ted

Before you can say "cat scratch fever," Ted Nugent rocks:

And so does Blue Oyster Cult, representing We The People:

Presidential Debate

Did you watch Biden's scripted, stumbling, lying, fakey, fraudulent, unconvincing, pathetic, weak, pale, corrupt, inconsequential, China scripted attempt to debate Trump? Remember the sinister Urfa Man?

Wow, that's your boy, Democrats. To say nothing of Alpha meets Beta.

DFTR

Have you been scared of the virus and had to stay at home, cowering like a frightened little girl in your basement or whatever safe space came to hand? Such an awful affliction.

Here at the Compound we feel your onesie latte pain and want to help. Yes, with Blue Oyster Cult's notoriously awesome Don't Fear The Reaper.

The Best Song Ever

Copy and archive this amazing song while you can. Before the Left bans it because they're all in favor of free-speech and tolerance.

But is anyone 1619 fooled? That'd depend on your 1488, right? Sorry, Lefties, the digits side with us and then some.

Godzilla Lockdown

Now, and perhaps more than ever, Blue Oyster Cult's immortal tune Godzilla strikes a chord. You can watch the great band's "lockdown" version here. They play it via Zoom, or something.

And thanks to all who've contributed to Linda's gofundme from this ill-read mind blog and elsewhere. About half way there, let's hit the target.

Silver Linings

It's dark, wet, and cold in the bucolic haven that is this small Texan farming community meets industrial theme park. That, and the Chinese Plague or "Red Death" is a looming threat from the nearby DFW metrosprawl.

Still, behind every dark cloud there's a silver lining. To name several: Drag Queen Story Hour's been cancelled and no one seems to care very much about preferred pronouns. It's almost as though the "greatest civil rights issue of our time" (Joe Biden) wasn't so very important after all. But of course the Mass is.

Question. Should the Parsons be livestreaming Private Masses or not? I'm inclined to say it cheapens the Sacrament of the Altar. Here's Adrienne:

At first (in a rather paganish way) I thought, "Cool - don't have to put on makeup, fix my hair, dress up. I can sit in front of my computer and think holy thoughts."
Reality. Prayers at the foot of the altar = Erica kitteh demanding breakfast. The Introit = Frankie doggie having to go out and pee. The epistle and gospel = I have to pee. And on, and on.

Good points. Whatever the case, I'll be posting links to the Mass tomorrow.

Be safe and as always...
